The CoreNet Global MCR is the profession’s most prestigious designation. The MCR professional designation was established in 1982 as a comprehensive career development program which includes completion of six multi-day seminars within a five-year period. Continuing professional development is required each three-year renewal cycle to maintain the designation.
Why Should You Earn the MCR?
While participating in the MCR Seminars, you will:
MCR designation is well recognized throughout the profession for high-quality instruction and current content. The content is designed for service providers, end users, and economic developers with five or more years of experience in corporate real estate. CoreNet Global membership is encouraged but not required to earn the MCR. Continuing professional development is required each three-year renewal cycle to maintain the designation. Your MCR must remain active in order to continue to use the professional designation.
The MCR workplace specialization (MCR.w) is designed for those who are interested in learning about and demonstrating expertise in the study of workplace strategies. To earn the MCR.w, participants complete the MCR requirements, including a series of workplace strategy seminars, a total of eight seminars.
Requirements (Effective April 1, 2019)
To earn your MCR, you will need to complete six (6) seminars within five years and pass the cumulative MCR Assessment. If you wish to add the workplace specialization and earn the MCR.w, you will need to complete eight (8) seminars.
CoreNet Global has a wide range of professional development seminars of interest to corporate real estate professionals. All professional development seminars listed in the current MCR Catalog or downloadable regional schedule may be used to customize your MCR program. Contact a Learning Concierge for more information.
To earn seminar credit, you must: 1) attend the entire seminar and participate in all seminar activities; 2) take and pass each seminar assessment; 3) have no outstanding financial obligations to CoreNet Global. Seminar fees must be paid in full in advance of the seminar start date.
Assessments are designed to reinforce the key takeaway points of each seminar. They are open book and scored by computer. By default, you will have three attempts to pass each assessment.
Capstone seminar pre-requisites: Prior to registering for the Capstone: Leadership and Strategy seminar, you must complete all other MCR requirements (5 qualifying seminars) within the five years prior to the start date of your capstone seminar.
MCR Assessment: The MCR Assessment is an individually developed in-depth analysis of a case study applying the knowledge and skills learned from all MCR seminars. The Capstone seminar and MCR Assessment are designed to be the final activities in earning the MCR. You will have three weeks post-seminar to submit your completed assessment. Each assessment is hand-scored by a subject matter expert. Please allow eight to twelve weeks from the Capstone seminar end date to receive your results.

Three (3) year renewal: Your MCR expiration date is established when you complete all MCR requirements including passing the MCR Assessment. All MCR designations expire on December 31, of the third year after earning the designation.
One (1) year extension: Those with an expired MCR who have not met the renewal requirements may pay a 1-year extension fee. This one-time option allows enough time to complete the renewal requirements. This advances your MCR expiration date by one year.
Reinstatement: To reinstate a lapsed MCR designation of greater than 90 days, you must meet the continuing professional development requirements and pay a reinstatement fee. This will advance your expiration date to 31 December, three (3) years from the calendar year in which the reinstatement fee was paid.
Q: Do you have to be a member to take the MCR seminars?
No. CoreNet Global membership is encouraged but not required to earn the MCR. Learn more…

Some people complete the program in one year; the average is two to three years. All seminars must be completed within the five (5) years prior to completion of the capstone seminar.
Q: Do you have to take courses in any particular order?
To earn the MCR complete six seminars. Workplace and technology seminars must be completed in sequential order. The Capstone seminar and MCR Assessment are to be taken last. Contact learning@corenetglobal.org for assistance in planning your seminar schedule.
Q: Can I take the seminars anywhere in the world?
Yes. Doing that is a great way to expand your global networks of CRE professionals.
Q: What is required to maintain the MCR designation?
Continuing professional development activities are important to stay abreast of new information and business models. To keep the MCR designation in good standing, a designee must participate in educational activities specific to a renewal cycle. Contact hours relevant to CRE professionals, including educational activities provided by universities, professional associations, corporate in-house training programs, CoreNet Global Chapter education programs, CoreNet Global Summit participation, and other CoreNet Global seminars. Renew your MCR.
Q: Is there anyone I can talk to about the program?
Contact learning@corenetglobal.org or your regional Learning Relationship Manager, listed below.
Q: If I have my MCR, can I add the workplace specialization at a later point in time?
Yes. Any time you decide that you would like to add the workplace specialization to your existing MCR designation, you may complete the three workplace seminars, pass the assessments and add the workplace specialization to your existing MCR designation. In fact, the workplace seminars you take after earning your MCR count not only toward earning your specialization but also as renewal credit during the period in which they are completed.
