MASTER OF CORPORATE REAL ESTATE (MCR)

The MCR is the globally recognized designation for corporate real estate professionals. Salary surveys by CoreNet Global show that those who earn the MCR tend to advance faster than their counterparts. MCR content is designed for those with five or more years of professional experience. Participants must complete a series of six in-depth seminars to earn the designation.

The MCR workplace specialization (MCR.w) is available to those who are interested in learning about and demonstrating expertise in the study of workplace strategies. To earn the MCR.w, participants complete the MCR requirements, plus two additional workplace strategy seminars for a total of eight seminars.

Learn More About the MCR Program

While participating in the MCR Seminars, you will:

  • Demonstrate your expertise in performing financial analysis, developing sound business cases, identifying risks in the portfolio, and recommending risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop real estate strategies that effectively support the goals of the business units.
  • Analyze the impacts of real estate decisions on your organization's financial statements as well as participate in the discussion of how these impacts are viewed by the CFO and senior management.
  • Effectively assess and manage the overall real estate portfolio, not just the specific assets.
  • Complete a business case including the creation of vision, charter strategy, scope of products and services, delivery, and resource sourcing with other CRE professionals.

MCR designation is well recognized throughout the profession for high-quality instruction and current, relevant content. The content is designed for service providers, end-users, and economic developers with five or more years of experience in corporate real estate. CoreNet Global membership is encouraged but not required to earn the MCR. Continuing professional development is required each three-year renewal cycle to maintain the designation. Your MCR must remain active in order to continue to use the professional designation.

The MCR workplace specialization (MCR.w) is designed for those who are interested in learning about and demonstrating expertise in the study of workplace strategies. To earn the MCR.w, participants complete the MCR requirements, including a series of workplace strategy seminars, a total of eight.

Q: How long do I have to complete the designation?

Some people complete the program in one year; the average is two to three years. All seminars must be completed within five (5) years prior to completion of the capstone seminar.

Q: Do you have to take courses in any particular order?

Q: Can I take the seminars anywhere in the world?

Yes. Doing that is a great way to expand your global networks of CRE professionals.

Q: What is required to maintain the MCR designation?

Continuing professional development activities are important to stay abreast of new information and business models. To keep the MCR designation in good standing, a designee must participate in educational activities specific to a renewal cycle. Contact hours relevant to CRE professionals, including educational activities provided by universities, professional associations, corporate in-house training programs, CoreNet Global Chapter education programs, CoreNet Global Summit participation, and other CoreNet Global seminars. Renew your MCR.

Q: Is there anyone I can talk to about the program?

Contact learning@corenetglobal.org.

In fact, the workplace seminars you take after earning your MCR count not only toward earning your specialization but also as renewal credit during the period in which they are completed.
