Summary: Much of the literature on workplace equity underscores its significance for business success, rather than the impact it can have on employee experience. Summary: Research shows that a focus on DEI can offer many advantages, ranging from improved employee experiences to better talent attraction and retention, and that 76% of job seekers value diverse companies when evaluating companies and job offers. Shell aims to become one of the most diverse and inclusive companies in the world and their real estate team is embracing the challenge by creating spaces that empower experiences. Along with their partner, JLL, Shell performed data collection, guided visits, diverse staff focus groups & photographic recordings to evaluate sites based on a set of criteria across 7 inclusion topics.

Summary: Gen Z is the most diverse generation in the history of the United States. As such, they place a high value on organizations that uphold diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this talk, Dr. Josh Packard reveals the results of Springtide Research Institute’s nearly 15,000 surveys and over 150 interviews with young people in order to show exactly what organizational values are critical to attracting and retaining the best talent. In a distinct shift from previous generations, this research confirms that organizational values such as diversity, inclusion, accountability, and welcoming, among others, are not simply “value-adds”, but are instead “must-haves” for Gen Z.

Summary: This training focuses on introducing basic terminology and identities while creating a safe space for questions. We will cover the differences between sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as expand on the additional types of diverse identities that fall beneath the umbrella categories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. This course explores best practices for engaging the LGBTQ+ community, as well as ways to support the community through allyship.

Summary: This workshop takes a deeper dive into the LGBTQ+ community. Building off the fundamental concepts from the LGBTQ Basics training, this training explores the experiences and challenges faced by gender diverse and transgender people; develops a working knowledge of the various ways people in the gender diverse and transgender community identify relating to gender identity and expression; an increased comfort level in communicating with, and using language related to, the gender diverse and transgender community; and offers strategies to support and act as allies to gender diverse and transgender people in the workplace.

Summary: We know from research and science that leaders have the ability to solve for bias but they are still failing at creating inclusive cultures. Why is this? Simply put, bias is what happens in our brains while feelings of inclusion or exclusion are what happens in other people’s brains. Spending time on diversity training may not be the solution to creating a more inclusive culture.
