With more than 1,000 sites in the Bayer Group, thousands of buildings and a two-digit million sq. mi. of building areas, the strategic management of Facility Management is a huge challenge for Bayer. As the company and its core businesses underwent changes in the last few years, it became a business need to address this challenge. Traditionally, the management of facilities occurred fully decentralized. Some initiatives had pointed to major potentials in creating a global, unified approach, and the Group's Senior Management decided to commission a Strategic Facility Management project owned by Bayer Real Estate, the global CREM unit of the Bayer Group. This presentation will report on this project, which has been running in phases for more than one year now. The session will share methodology, insights and results, presented by the project leader.
