Learning Theatre - Workshop: Fostering Innovation in Your Business

Workshop (9:00am - 11:00am)

Why is it that some businesses seem to thrive by successfully nurturing a climate of innovation while others lose their competitive edge because they overlook the importance of re:creation in their corporate environment? This question has intrigued Steelcase and theLivingCore researchers over many years, leading to extensive explorations with forward thinkers and powerhouse companies to understand the drivers of innovation.

In the future, people know their performance will be judged not by how busy they are, but by the quality of their ideas. Workers face unprecedented change and wonder about their ability to keep pace. Can they think creatively and solve problems in new ways? In the future, businesses know the complexity of the issues they face requires the entire organization to embrace radically new ways of working and thinking. Re:creation is at the center. It is stepping out of your everyday business, reflect, get in touch with you and your organization´s future, and make a leap.

Transcending the boundaries, from physical to virtual, from working to restoring, from individual to team, from thinking to making, is vital to innovate. In this interactive workshop we are going to explore the role of re:creation for innovation. We will focus on the following two points: (i) Re:creation is not only important, but also necessary for bringing forth future-oriented innovation and profound change. (ii) In order to do so, it is necessary to create specific (organizational) environments and spatial (office) settings. We will present leading-edge insights from neuroscience, cognitive science, innovation studies, as well as customers projects.

We invite you to join us in this interactive workshop to understand the power of re:creation for innovation and change. The workshop is facilitated by leading experts in innovation and workplace design. In order to stimulate interaction and collaboration between participants, this workshop takes place in the “Learning Theater”.
