  • Bold Forecast: By 2030, the corporate real estate (CRE) function within corporations will take one of two paths: it will either evolve to a more complex, high-value function focusing on the provision of a productive work environment, both physical and virtual, or it will diminish to a less important, almost obsolete function (think mailroom and switchboard). The primary determinant will be the leadership qualities of the senior-most CRE executive.

  • Bold Forecast: By 2030, the traditional “tug of war” between the cost view of real estate and the value view of real estate will not go away but documenting and “selling” the value view will make substantial progress due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced technology tools. 
  • Bold Forecast: By 2030, sustainability skills will be table stakes. The CRE leader of the future will have to understand sustainability in the same way that today’s CRE leader must understand finance.
