New HQ in San Francisco Tells The Amenity Story
Those involved in the office sector of commercial real estate – investors, developers, owners, and tenants – are frequently saying the office is not dead, but new office space will look and feel a lot different. It will be amenity-rich, and a destination so attractive that employees will want to come to work.
The headquarters complex developed by Federal Realty Investment Trust in San Jose, California, helps illustrate that story, as reported in Commercial Property Executive.
Database platform Couchbase will establish its new headquarters at one of the Class A buildings in a complex known as Santana Row. The development is a “mixed-use 2.4 million-square-foot development. The project is set to include more than 1 million square feet of Class A office space, along with a boutique hotel, 615 rental homes, 219 condo units, a movie theater and retail space.”
Amenities include an on-site café, a fitness studio with private showers, a common-area lobby, a conference center, multiple terraces on the second, seventh and eighth floors, an outdoor plaza, a food court and a golf simulator.
