CoreNet Global Names Young Leader of the Year in Corporate Real Estate; Announces Set of New Initiatives Geared to Young Professionals

ATLANTA (JANUARY 31, 2018) — real estate executives, today announced the winner of its H. Gordon Wyllie, MCR, Young Leader of the Year Award. The award was presented during the association’s North American Global Summit being held this week in Seattle, Wash.

The award, named for one of the founders of a CoreNet Global predecessor organization, was presented to Rosario Carbonell, MCR, Executive Director, KMC Savills, Inc. Carbonell mentors and trains the tenant representation services team within KMC Savills. She also helped develop the business model for KMC’s sister company, KMC Solutions, which gave KMC MAG Group a competitive edge in the service market.

As a pioneer in the company, Carbonell has helped it grow, advanced many of its strategies and assisted in generating its client base, contributing significantly to the company’s 45 percent revenue growth from 2014. Under her management, closed sales totaled 149,838 square meters (1.6 million square feet) since 2014. Her strong leadership skills have cultivated a staff of more than 100 with a low attrition rate and high employee engagement.

Carbonell was nominated for the award by the CoreNet Global Philippines Chapter.

Also at its Global Awards and Recognition Dinner, CoreNet Global honored two finalists for the award: Melissa Pesci, Associate Vice President, HGA Architects and Engineers, CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter; and Sara Wang, Marketing and Communication China Manager, CBRE, CoreNet Global China Chapter.

Recognizing the value and contributions of young professionals to corporate real estate, and to CoreNet Global, the association announced today a series of new initiatives geared to advancing their success:

Designing a New Designation

A new CoreNet Global professional designation is in development to address the unique needs of Young Leaders. The designation provides a learning bridge to other CoreNet Global programs while Young Leaders build experience in corporate real estate.

Mentor Match

CoreNet Global is preparing a new mentoring program to help Young Leaders connect with a seasoned professional in the field of corporate real estate.

Volunteering Program

CoreNet Global is establishing a volunteering program, allowing Young Leaders to connect, learn and build professional relationships.

Summits

Within each Summit, CoreNet Global focuses on creating experiences to volunteer, to learn, engage, and network:

  • Young Leader xChange:
    A series of short sessions designed by Young Leaders.
  • Academic Challenge:
    University and college teams compete to solve key challenges facing the profession.
  • Leadership Development:
    Each Summit has a Leadership Development track comprised of breakout sessions that are designed to advance communication skills and leadership competencies.
  • Keynote Speakers:
    Memorable and talented experts headline the Summits.
  • Breakout Sessions:
    Leading-edge content comes from a variety of sources and includes research reports, case studies, best practices, and survey findings.  
  • Meet-up/Receptions: Young Leaders are invited to a reception at each Summit to network with the Global Board of Directors, Chapter Leaders and staff.
  • Tech Bar:
    In the Innovation Pavilion at the North American Summit, CoreNet Global hosts an interactive technology experience.  The tech bar showcases new technology, assists in updating LinkedIn profiles and demonstrates the usefulness of social media.

A new series of podcasts is being developed which will provide opportunities for on-demand learning about trends and issues impacting the profession. These will feature CoreNet Global members and experts from other disciplines.
