Climate Change and the Built Environment

January 2021

Climate change and its effects on temperature,  precipitation,  storm patterns,  sea level rise,  and other environmental processes have important implications for the construction,  maintenance,  and operation of buildings and infrastructure. This session will focus on the implications of climate change management strategies for buildings under these stresses. Strategies for single asset protection to more district level strategies such as the “Big U” for New York City,  Boston’s Resilient Harbor Vision,  and Gulf Coast of Texas will be discussed.
