Coworking has evolved from its founding principles to become a successful real estate solution, in particular for organizations that require growth flexibility. "Filling the Void" identifies a gap in the market between organizations that have reached organizational maturity beyond coworking, but cannot navigate the complex tenancy agreements, long leasing terms and intricacies of fitting their own space. A series of interviews on growing organisations, undertaken as part of a joint research project between HASSELL and Pepper, highlighted the strengths of coworking in supporting the quantitative aspect of growth (e.g. headcount). However, the limitations of coworking spaces in supporting the qualitative side of growth also became apparent. Backed by Organizational Life Cycle models, the environment for growing organizations should be different, not only bigger. In this session Dr. Agustin Chevez, and Luke Gladwish, will present the outcomes of a cross-disciplinary collaboration between designers and property advisers to develop a new business offering.
