Effectively Measuring Knowledge Worker Productivity (Workplace Knowledge Community)

October 2015

We’ve been chasing the elusive “holy grail” for a long time - dependable, repeatable ways to measure Knowledge Worker productivity – to help us to identify (and defend to the skeptics) aspects of the workplace that positively affect performance. To that end, in 2013 and 2014, Advanced Workplace Associates (AWA), a London-based workplace strategy consultancy, partnered with the Center for Evidence-Based Management (CEBMa), an Amsterdam-based organization who “researches” research and advocates for informed decision-making, to determine what is known about effectively measuring knowledge worker productivity. To do so, they undertook a critical appraisal of the best available academically rigorous evidence about how the productivity of knowledge workers can be measured – consistently and with validity. Allsteel was one of the sponsors of this important work.
