Although technology is a huge driver of change and innovation in the workplace, one of the most powerful forces is a lot closer to home – the mind. Biologically we are hard-wired to prefer people who look like us, sound like us and share our interests. Psychologists tell us that our unconscious biases are simply our natural preferences and call this phenomenon "social categorization”. Put simply our neurology takes us to the very brink of bias and poor decision making, which can hinder innovation.
