India's Future

India's Future

November 2008

The Forum at Bangalore, November 28, 2008. General Session 1. "Prosperity will spread in India but happiness will not until we fix governance." The question "what is India's future?" is on everyone's mind. Will India be swept up in a global recession, or will its momentum allow for continued growth? How will it compete with China in the coming years? What challenges remain before India can truly take her place in the world economy? Our opening keynote speaker, Gurcharan Das, will present a vision of India's future based on economic, political, and historical perspectives. He will challenge the audience with his view of the relationship between prosperity and happiness - what must happen before India can achieve both? Mr. Das is an author, columnist, commentator and management consultant who was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Procter & Gamble India and Vice President for Asia, and completed his corporate career in the USA as head of strategic planning. He is best known for his internationally-acclaimed book India Unbound. Subsequently he has authored a book of essays entitled The Elephant Paradigm: India Wrestles with Change looking at an ancient civilization's reawakening to the spirit - and potential - of its youth.
