Special Research Report - The Economy's Impact On CRE, Las Vegas Summit

November 2009

This report marks the first time in several quarters that positive signs are emerging from the corporate real estate community. Although end users and service providers alike believe that CRE budgets may plateau in the next year, a foreseeable end to this downturn is in sight. The CoreNet Global Summit in Las Vegas, October 2009, was a reflection of this changing attitude. In light of the current economic situation, the event had a particularly successful turnout. Over 1,500 corporate real estate leaders attended, with a strong showing from the financial services, technology, and telecommunications industries. Although the economy is lagging, the discussion on how to best address portfolio issues was not. Energetic roundtable discussions and creative presentations on how to combat increasing operating costs and decreasing department budgets were abundant. Included in this report are thoughts from the group attending the conference, significant findings from recent CoreNet Global research, and results from the most recent CRE and the Economy Survey conducted by CoreNet Global.
