CoreNet Global UK Chapter Energy Act 2011 Research

March 2013

As the Government's commitment to carbon reduction gets ever more prescriptive, this important piece of legislation has significant implications for corporate occupiers by restricting their ability to let and assign commercial real estate. By 2018 selling and letting buildings with a EPC rating of F or G will be outlawed. It will be necessary to undertake improvements to bring energy performance above an E rating. This means knowing which buildings are affected and having a plan of action in the corporate real estate strategy. CoreNet UK Chapter and SEGRO have commissioned a piece of research that interviewed occupiers of space and the results are very enlightening for everyone
