The Sarbanes-Oxley Act received a great deal of attention, because of the added responsibilities it placed on corporate executives and audit committees. Congress passed the Act in response to the scandals involving financial misrepresentations at numerous prominent corporations - actions resulting in unprecedented investor losses.
