Panel Outlines Financial Impact of Current Environment

Senior real estate professionals shared their views of the current economic environment and its impact on real estate financing and valuations. The discussion took place at the chapter's learning event on "Creative Financing Alternatives" on June 11 at Wachovia. The panel comprised, left to right, David Spoont, Senior Vice President, Finance and Dispositions, Urdang (who moderated the discussion); Bill Hankowsky, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Liberty Property Trust; and Mindy Berman, Managing Director, Corporate Capital Markets, Jones Lang LaSalle.

Prognosticators Point the Way to Our Economic Future 

An august panel of expert economists shared their predictions for the good, the bad and the ugly at the chapter’s annual Economic Forecast Breakfast, hosted by PECO on March 12. Left to right, Craig Adams, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, PECO; Peter Linneman, Principal, Linneman Associates, and Albert Sussman Professor of Real Estate, Finance and Public Policy, Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania; Stephen Mullin, Senior Vice President and Principal, Econsult Corp.; Ryan Sweet, Senior Economist, Moody's Economy.com; Joel Naroff, Chief Economist, TD Bank, and President, Naroff Economic Advisors; and Bernard Dagenais, Editor, Philadelphia Business Journal. Forecasts ranged from the optimistic (an economic recovery beginning in six to nine months) to the dreary (Greater Philadelphia's unemployment lagging that of the rest of the country).

Senior-level Officials Discuss State Economic Incentives

 

 

 

Pennsylvania and New Jersey economic-development officials discussed economic incentives at a joint

Philadelphia/New Jersey CoreNet event in Trenton, N.J., on Oct. 15. The panel discussed a broad

range of topics, including public/private partnerships, tax incentives, infrastructure and transportation

needs, and the quality of both states’ workforces.

Golf Outing Attendance Hits 120

 

Smiles and good times prevailed at the 2008 Greater Philadelphia CoreNet Global golf outing and dinner. Attendance reached 120 -- an unofficial chapter record. The Sept. 22 outing, at St. Davids Golf Club in Wayne, Pa., netted more than $29,000, a 12 percent increase over 2007.
