July Program and Boat Cruise: The Impact of Technology and Mobility in Today's Workplace

Time:  8:00 am-2:30 pm

Location:  Bayview Event Center, Excelsior

Deb Truesdell, Hennepin County, HSPHD

Topic: The current economic downturn not withstanding, success in the workplace is still based on recruiting and retaining the best and brightest talent.  And despite the current economics, the workforce continues to age and in the not too distant future demand will exceed the supply of qualified workers - there will be more jobs in the U.S. than there are workers to fill them. As shortages of talent loom, employees will increasingly expect more, and flexibility is at the top of their list.

Cost:

Members:  $40.00

Non-Members:  $60

Please note that for our monthly programs, we have revised our registration policy.  All registrations received after the deadline will be charged a $10 late fee.  The registration deadline for the July program is Thursday, July 2, 2009.  The $10 late fee will also be added to any walk-in registrations that occur the day of the program.

A letter from Julie Luers the CoreNet Global Midwest Chapter President

We hear about lost jobs, increasing vacancy rates, and tight credit everyday.  To help our member’s weather the storm, CoreNet Global must respond by providing more value, giving you tools to withstand the market forces.  The Midwest Chapter is committed to doing so, and is making changes to respond to today’s economic conditions.

Our committee structure has been redesigned to support this mission.  Two new committees have been formed to focus on Professional Development and Community Outreach. Professional Development is exclusively for end users.  Watch for news on two special end user events that will provide a venue for inter-action and peer to peer discussion.  The Community Outreach committee will formalize our commitment to the community, developing fundraising programs and organizing volunteer activities.  In fact, our annual February social will become a special event to support a local non-profit organization.

Programs have always been the backbone of our Chapter.  The commitment to provide top notch, relevant programming remains, along with the goal to provide real estate credits for every meeting.  Getting more exposure for our programs and showcasing the knowledge of our members is the focus of our Marketing and Communications this year.  The committee will also provide timely communication on Chapter activities to members and prospective members.

Membership will “focus” on retention of current members.  It’s been several years since we asked for your feedback, so this year the membership committee will conduct focus groups to understand your needs, enabling us to deliver what you value.

To do this we need money.  Because Sponsorship is our primary source of income, we’re paying particular attention to our sponsorship program.  Sponsorship provides opportunities for companies to support the mission of the Midwest Chapter and gain visibility for their organization.  We are so grateful to our sponsors.  Thank you!

The Finance Committee manages the financial health of the Chapter.  This year, the Finance Committee will provide a financial report to the membership at our May meeting.

Even with the challenges we will face, the leadership of the Midwest Chapter is looking forward with optimism and excitement to the upcoming year. Your new Board is talented, energetic, and dedicated.  Check out our Officers page to see the great people working for you.

We welcome you to join us in our mission.  Please contact me or any Officer to join a committee.
