I am truly honored to be named as the new Mid-Atlantic Chapter President for the 2006-07 year. Last year was a great year for the chapter with many fine programs and accomplishments. The new board will try to continue the tradition of outstanding programs and networking opportunities!
First, let me introduce our new board. Our Vice President is Karen Fields from Himes, Associates, Ltd., a national development management, project management and relocation management service provider. Karen is responsible for the strategic integration of account management and operations management for new and existing client relationships. She has developed an expertise in working with national corporate accounts that have a diverse portfolio of real estate and facilities needs, such as Verizon, Constellation Energy Group, AOL, Lehman Brothers, and others.
Our Treasurer is Erik Morrison from Gensler. Erik is a real estate & facilities management strategist with Gensler's Consulting practice in their Washington, DC office. Erik specializes in analyzing business operations and processes within organizations in order to provide building programming, facility management, and asset portfolio recommendations that assist his clients in making quality business decisions.
Our Secretary is Lisa Scala from Herman Miller. Lisa is the past Chair of the Communications Committee and also served on the Finance/Gala & Membership Committees for past two-years. She was a representative of Mid-Atlantic Chapter at 2005-06 Leadership Forum. Lisa is a Real Estate Development Manager of Herman Miller Mid-Atlantic, her responsibilities include understanding corporate real estate trends & issues, identifying user needs, creating link between user group and internal resource experts, and leaving furniture behind.
2005/06 was another outstanding year for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. We had a very successful golf tournament, ten learning programs, and produced a fine quarterly newsletter. Our year ended with the 2nd Annual EnCore Awards Gala, our black tie event which honors the best in the Corporate Real Estate industry. Thanks to my co-chair Frances Reaves for making that event so special.
Thanks also to our past President Barry Beswick and the entire board for their hard work. Vice President Holly Jones, Treasurer Gavin Bloch and Secretary Erik Morrison deserve a round of applause for making our chapter one of the best in all of CoreNet.
Looking forward, our chapter board using the great job of the previous board to launch into a range of exciting events and actitivities. Highlights for the 2006-07 yearr include a golf outing on September 13th (mark your calendars!), a series of chapter programs covering a variety of industry issues and current topics, and chapter roundtables and meetings that aim to increase the role of the end user community in our chapter. Our plans for the new year will culminate in our chapter hosting two very important events. In May we will hold our 3rd Annual EnCore Awards Gala, and in June the Mid-Atlantic Chapter will work with Johns Hopkins University to host the Eastern Region Symposium..
I am looking forward to the coming year of activities and I believe your participation and the that of our enthusiastic board and committee members will make all the events a great success.
