Message from the Michigan (Great Lake State) Chapter President:
Welcome to the Michigan Chapter of CoreNet Global. This photo shows the Mackinac Bridge, the landmark icon that spans the Straits of Mackinac connecting the lower and upper peninsulas of Michigan. This bridge symbolizes the connectivity of people and commerce in Michigan.
One of the primary goals of the Michigan Chapter is connecting groups of professionals, End Users and Service Providers, in order to advance knowledge, promote personal excellence and add value to their enterprises. This is accomplished by facilitating and sponsoring a variety of diversified programs to provide members the opportunity to learn and meet others in the industry. This is accomplished through timely events and networking opportunities. An example of the content can be found at by clicking here, which is a PowerPoint presentation from our February 2008 event on "Strategies That Position and Enable Corporate Real Estate to Accommodate a Global Workforce". Please click on the "events" icon to the left of this page to review our listing of upcoming events.
We recently launched a Michigan Chapter Scholarship program targeting higher education in Real Estate and had the privlege to make the first award in 2007 to a University of Michigan student. A sample application from 2007 is available for you to review, click here.
This Michigan Chapter's response to the Community Reinvestment Challenge is focused on two events. One is our annual Awards Gala which is now honoring the Real Estate Contributor of the Year and the Real Estate Innovator of the Year. The proceeds from this event are donated to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. The "6th Annual CoreNet Global Michigan Chapter Awards Gala" is scheduled for May 15th, 2008, at the Detroit Institute of Arts. This event is known to be one of the most successful networking events of the year.
The other event is our annual CoreNet/Comerica Golf Outing benefiting Boys Hope Girls Hope. This event raises more than $25,000 each year for this outstanding non-profit.
Take the opportunity to support these and many other Michigan Chapter Initiatives by taking part in the Annual Sponsorship Program. Click here for the sponsorship information, or contact the CoreNet Michigan Administrator for a brochure of sponsorship opportunities.
Finally, making the most of your membership. I would encourage you to get involved and volunteer for one of several different committees: Programs, Education, Membership, Gala, Sponsorships, University Relations and Communications. Activate members of the Michigan Chapter will tell you the networking relations and growth starts at the committee level. There are many opportunities to participate. If you are interested in a specific committee, check out the Board Member page of the website for the Vice president of the committee.
We are looking forward to a great 2008-09 year of programs, educational opportunities and events. We hope you can join us and get involved.
Best regards,
Steve Opper Michigan Chapter President |
