2 Hour Workshop
How can we bring about new and thriving futures as we face complex global challenges in a rapidly changing and uncertain world? This is one of the most pressing questions in today's knowledge economy, in which innovation and disruptive change have become one of the key drivers for social, technological, economical, environmental, as well as political dynamics (STEEP framework). The future cannot be predicted; however, it can be anticipated and prepared for. This session will explore the connections between uncertainty and innovation and experiment with a selection of future-oriented scenario planning methods. You'll learn how scenario planning tools and future-oriented innovation methodologies can illuminate different ways the future could plausibly develop. Explore the role of space as an environment that, on the one hand, provides certainty, stability and predictability; and, on the other hand, "controlled uncertainty" for triggering our creativity and breaking our patterns of perception and cognition.
