Africa contains 7 of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world. It is a complex jigsaw of 54 countries with varied challenges and constraints. Rapid urbanisation is creating significant opportunities for socio-economic development, whilst putting pressure on infrastructure and resources, particularly energy. Africa's future requires strong political leadership to drive transformation through economic diversification, job creation and by tackling inequality. "The Cheetah Generation", a term coined by George Ayittey is a key proponent for this, recognising young African graduates and professionals with a demand for radical transformation in Africa. They have a 'no nonsense' approach to corruption, seeking to drive democratic agenda through transparency, inclusiveness and sustainable growth to ensure long term prosperity. This highly skilled pool of talent promotes new technological advances and is driving innovation across many sectors. This session will focus on the role businesses play in Africa to facilitate growth and empower "The Cheetah Generation".
