Summits & EventsAtlanta 2007

CoreNet Global and leading CRE executives convened in Atlanta to network, share best practices, and to learn more about the growing competition for one of our industry's most valuable resources: Talent.

Finding | Getting | Keeping Talent: Enterprise competitive advantage has exhibited a shift away from technology -or even strategy - toward talented people and a corporate culture that enables them to innovate at a greater rate than the competition. Yet, competition for talent is fierce, and the ongoing battle to find and keep good people is taking its toll on corporate real estate. The 2007 CoreNet Global Summit, Atlanta explored how competition for talent impacts the enterprise, the corporate real estate department and the individual. For more about the war for talent, read the Web-Only Special Report from The Industry Tracker.

The Enterprise
Exploring both demand- and supply-side perspectives on the enterprise level, we delved into the workforce implications of the current battle for talent. Namely, we explored the need for new kinds of workplaces, as well as the growing relationships between location, workplace, brand, and company culture.

The Corporate Real Estate Department
In exploring the growing competition for talent within our profession, we will examine the changing nature of real estate-related jobs, where these jobs are located in the world, where the talent is, and - most importantly - strategies for building and maintaining a pipeline of future employees. In addition, we will pursue a better understanding of who we are competing with for the best and the brightest candidates.

The Individual
We will take a hard look at how the required competencies for real-estate related jobs are changing in this very dynamic industry segment. Among topics that will be probed and discussed are the landscape of potential transferable skills (from other segments or toward other segments) and the development of career planning strategies.
