Facilities management is viewed all too often as a lower-level function that ensures the mechanical equipment is running efficiently, plants are watered, and the waste bins are emptied. In reality, much of facilities management is a strategic function, one that adds real value to the business and supports its core mission along with employee recruiting, retention and productivity. Changing longheld perceptions is no easy task. But, facilities management is making progress as the industry continues to evolve and executives increasingly recognize the value that FM can bring to a company.
