New Worlds: Entering South American Property Markets

October 2001

For companies launching overseas operations, two rules of thumb apply: Bring all your skills and tools. Take nothing for granted. Chicago-based U.S. Equities Realty LLC followed those two rules as it entered the dynamic South American market. In just five years, they oversaw the development of two high-rise office towers there and consulted on a total renovation of half of an operations center. At the same time, they advised on the purchase of half of a high-rise headquarters complex, provided strategic real estate planning in three countries and became established as Argentina's largest third-party real estate facility management company. This rapid progress reflects multinational companies' demand for the high U.S. standard of real estate services as well as South American businesses' desire for more efficient building management.
