BETA Center provides educational services, child development services, community resources, residential services and voluntary pre-kindergarten services. More than 35 years later, BETA Center continues to make an impact on the community's most vulnerable children and families in Central Florida.
BETA Center has evolved into a multi- faceted agency providing a wide array of support, prevention and education programs. The agency has an ethnically and racially diverse staff of 45 team members and a core group of 100 volunteers to perform its mission…. "to give our community's children and parents the knowledge and support needed for strong and healthy families."
Beta Center's history
BETA Center began in a small basement office in downtown Orlando as a volunteer-led, grassroots effort to provide counseling, basic needs and shelter to women facing a crisis pregnancy. We opened the City of Orlando's only private shelter equipped to meet the needs of homeless pregnant women. Very quickly BETA Center established a G.E.D. program on-site, realizing that education was critical to the long-term success of our clients. Soon unprecedented private-public collaboration was formed between BETA Center and Orange County Public Schools to offer middle and high school education through the Alternative Education Program as well as developmental childcare. This was a way to beat the odds and keep pregnant and parenting teens in school.
From its early days, BETA Center has evolved into a multi-faceted agency providing a wide array of support, prevention and education programs. The agency has an ethnically and racially diverse staff of 45 team members and a core group of 100 volunteers to perform its mission…. "to give our community's children and parents the knowledge and support needed for strong and healthy families."
More than 35 years later, BETA Center continues to make an impact on our community's most vulnerable children and family's right here in Central Florida.
